Lifting Teacher Morale Through Effective Leadership in Post-Pandemic Times

Session Description

Teachers post-pandemic have demonstrated low professional morale due to poor student behaviour, low academic performance, financial and technological issues as well as inconsistent management. International schools face a high rate of staff turnover every year. Teacher morale is directly related to the sense of commitment teachers feel towards the organisation. Effective leadership plays a crucial role in improving teacher morale. There is a recent focus on distributed or collaborative leadership and its benefits. However, due to the high staff turnover in international schools, centralised and instructional approaches to leadership tend to be more widely adopted. The paper discusses the aspects that shape working culture in international schools and seeks to provide food for thought to leadership teams eager to contribute positively to lifting teacher morale within their communities.
