Dorothy So Hirata, Ph.D., leads the instructional design team at the University of Hawaiʻi System’s Online Innovation Center. She works cross-functionally with diverse faculty, staff, and administrators to support system-wide strategic online learning initiatives and professional development opportunities that contribute to quality learning across the university's ten campuses.

Dorothy also serves as an adjunct faculty for the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa’s College of Education, Learning Design and Technology Department facilitating the culminating online course for the Online Learning and Teaching (COLT) Graduate Certificate in Learning Design and Technology. Her interests include quality online course design and development, generative artificial intelligence, digital badging, and emerging educational technology trends.
