Learning with CIA: Coaching Integrated into Academe

Session Description

Post-pandemic practices have come to depend upon the physical to motivate the mental. Likewise, “coaching” is no longer a repetitive plan strengthening the quadriceps or toning the biceps; rather, it comprises stimulating the cerebrum. The present paper sets forth the notion of coaching in an integrated academe. Four topics comprise: Defining and specifying terms (Coaching, Integration, Academe), exemplifying those terms' meanings, discussing processes to achieve them, and proposing shareable action plans.

In this presentation, academic coaching is set forth and exemplified, uniting teacher knowledge and learner self-awareness to integrate knowledge. Integrated curricula are demonstrated to engage, increase interest, and improve learning across academic domains. Effective ways of coaching and of integrating curricula, concepts, and expectations throughout academe will be shared for discussion; participants will be invited to contribute.

Learning objectives include the ability to:

  • Explain the notion of academic coaching
  • Identify at least two ways in which academic integration occurs
  • Demonstrate effective integration in academe that has been enhanced through academic coaching
  • Assess various programs setting forth the integration of concepts, curricula, and expectations.
