Introduction to Electrocardiogram Interpretation (A Hybrid Course)

Session Description

Precise and prompt electrocardiogram (EKG) interpretations can significantly influence patient outcomes (Penalo et al., 2021) and there is a demonstrated need to improve nurse competency. Despite lacking prior experience, new graduates are often placed in hospital units where EKG interpretation is essential for tasks such as administering cardiovascular medications and evaluating interventions and procedures that affect the heart. A fundamental grasp of EKGs can facilitate students' transition into these hospital settings. Nurses adept in EKG interpretation can effectively relay pertinent information to physicians, specialists, and other team members, fostering collaborative decision-making for optimal patient care.
